Hi all,

We have been raising our first set of ducklings and I suspect wry neck in one of them. When she settles down on the ground she always lays with he head and neck drooped to the side, and when I hold her she also crooks her neck to snuggle. She has been this way since I first got her (with it seeming more pronounced lately) yet still eats well, drinks, swims etc. She is about 4-5 weeks old. Is this treatable in the same way as chicks, with me dosing her with Vitamin E caps? Thanks!

I have read that Vitamin E is good (please double check dosages), and also B Complex. Do you have photo's? I know my ducks sometimes lean their heads over to the side to rest - that's not wry neck, though.

Hi there! I recently hatched my own ducklings, and had a little one with a case of wry neck as well. I found this link to be very helpful...http://www.pets4homes.co.uk/pet-advice/how-to-treat-wry-neck-in-ducklings-and-chicks.html It makes sense to me that the vitamins are easier to digest and are absorbed better if you can find foods to feed them that have lots of what they are lacking.

I made a nice salad of the fresh herbs listed on the page, added some water and sprinkled turmeric and cumin on it. They LOVE it, and it certainly won't hurt the ducks not affected by wry neck to get a few extra vitamins! I have seen some positive changes in her already, although I must admit, I think I caught it very very early, started treating it immediately, and if it's possible, I think she may have had just a mild case of it.

I know I am a little late to your post, and I hope your duck has recovered, Good luck, and happy duck owning!
