One of my chicks is really droopy, she sleeps almost all the time and doesn't eat or drink. So I have been feeding her sugar water with a dropper, but she doesn't eat even when I offer it to her. My sister is very attached to "Sweets" and has noticed that when not being held by us she just sleeps in the middle of the brooder or cheeps loudly with all her little lung power. She also doesn't walk aorund to the food or water. My sister think maybe she is blind??

It kinda makes sense since she doesn't even walk around and lets all the others step on her and crash into her. What do you guys think?

She is only 5 days old
I tried this test, she doesn't leave her eyes open long enough for me to do it...

she is also very unsteady on her feet. We have had many sick/injured animals lately so my mom doesn't want to really do anything, just "if she dies, she dies!"

Please anyone? The poor thing looks like she is going to flop over any second!

Do you have any poultry vitamins? If so give her that instead of sugar water, too much sugar is not good either. Do you have any canned dog food? If so warm up a small amount and try to put a small bit in her beak and try to get her to swallow by rubbing her. You can also try taking chick starter crumble, mix it with hot water and make a mash, then try and put some in her mouth.

chirping = cold, isolate in a smaller container, check if there's anything blocking her bum.

when you dip her beak in water does she throw her head back tryng to swallow?

Sometimes, but she has been spitting it up, she can't stand now and just flops over on belly up. I think she is dieing... she wont eat, we gave her mash, but she just can't do it.
She is isolated, but the last time she chirped it came out as a vague gurgling noise, now she pants for breath and is drooped over.

Your post is so sad and depressing!!!!!!!!! What is happening to our little chickens these days???? Everyone is having them die and is here clammoring for help and no one knows what to suggest other than common sense stuff we probably are already doing. So upsetting!

thanks for your help everyone. She seemed a little better last night, but this morning we found her belly up dead. So sad. Why am I crying my eyes out over a little chick. My brother was over with his wife last night and he was laughing at me an my sister for being sad over the chick. He said "I'll take you to ShopRite and I'll get you as many chicks as you want," and "You've got 13 more!" and "Can't they just Fedex you another one?"

I have had so many deaths lately and I start to wonder why I love my animals so much, get attached and then they die.
