Possibly egg bound, but can't really tell. Any advice?

Hello again.

I want to first thank everyone for their advice, encouragement and kind words. I've never seen this condition before, so I'm glad I at least now know what it is if it ever comes up again. After watching the video, I'm positive this is what was wrong with her.

Since originally posting, her belly got more distended with fluid and it was increasingly obvious she was suffering a much diminished quality of life. I made the decision to put her down this morning.

While that was not an easy decision for me, I want to reiterate that the replies from you all reassured me that I had done everything I could for her and that I should not prolong her suffering.

Thanks again to everyone, I really appreciate it.

Very sorry for your loss. You did the best for her to end her suffering. Many of us will do our own home necropsy to find out what was wrong, or to reinforce our thoughts. It is good to open the belly to look for the yellow or amber fluid of ascites. Then you may want to remove organs and take pictures of your findings to post hear for any observations. This is just a basic link about necropsies to know what is what, and I do very brief ones:

Thank you

Sorry for your loss Bill.
I agree you did the right thing, especially as it was getting even worse. You could have drained her etc, but it would all happen again and again until she just couldn't fight it anymore. A lot of suffering would have been ahead of her. Well done, I have not had to cull yet, but it's inevitable and I do not look favorably towards that day. Takes courage that's for sure. Best of luck with the rest of your girls!
