Possibly eggbound hen

My RIR, Ginny, was acting strange today. Laying down a lot, with her tail feathers going up & down a little, like she was trying to lay. Head a little tucked in & kind of sluggish/sleepy. The more I watched her the more concerned I got. She is usually pretty independent & standoffish, but not like this. I had a shell-less egg 2 days ago. So I ran to BYC and seaarched eggbound.

Into the warm bath she went. She was not happy about it but I gave her some grapes. I didn’t have Epsom salts, unfortunately, but will make sure I have some on hand from now on. Then I lubed up her vent with some vegetable oil, with a gloved hand of course. Popped her back in the run with her sisters and watched & waited. Then I found an oblong shell-less egg in their tire dustbath.
I am hoping she is all better now. She roosted up with her sisters shortly after. When an eggbound hen passes the egg, how long should it take to see improvement in her demeanor? I want to know what to expect & what to watch for tomorrow. I am also thinking about getting some liquid calcium for her but need to do more research on that first.

I’m feeding them Nature’s Best organic layer pellets. I also have a dish of oyster shell in their run all the time. Thank you for the Tums tip. I will get some tomorrow and put it in some plain yogurt. Since she passed the egg blob do you think she will be okay?

She is looking pretty good this morning. Her comb isn’t as flipped over and she is alert & pecking at the ground. Gonna keep a close eye on her today though.

I have 4 young hens, 3 (RIR, leghorn, brahma) have layed for a couple weeks but the ameraucana (Violet) has not. I read ameraucanas can mature, but shes pushing and seems restless I just noticed it at around 10 this morning. Its been only half a day but I'm worried :(. It's night now, should I wait until morning and see if she lays or be concerned now? Hoping someone will respond since this thread is relatively recent. Thanks!

Sorry I didn’t see this until now. How is she this morning?
