Possibly have extra Delaware cockerels for show

I know this is in the wrong area but I am getting pretty desperate for homes.

I got a shipment of Delawares from a breeder in California. She primarily bred for meat but tried to breed to the standard. A couple of these boys are more white and have combs closer to the standard. Maybe someone would like to use them to show? Most boys are big and have too much smut on the back for show. I'm trying to spare as many lives as I can as this breeder retired and closed her business. I have the last shipment of her chicks and I don't want her line to die out. She was very good at recovering the weight this breed should be hitting.

I got them from Erin Angulo at Dawnridge Farm in Grass Valley, CA.

That is an interview from her from a few years ago.

These chicks will be 8 weeks old this coming Sunday. Most cockerels are 2+ lbs by now. I'm only asking $25 per cockerel to help recover the feed costs and actual cost of the chicks. Preferably used for breeding. These are friendly, well bred boys.

I don't have a lot of space and I will need to process them by 12-14 weeks. I really don't want to process these nice genetics. Please tell me someone can use some of these to breed for meat or show.

First 4 photos are of the whitest cockerel for show. He almost looks like a pullet. Can someone use him? I have a second one that is almost as white too.

It might be a good idea to see if anyone local wants them. Craigslist, Social Media, and 4-H clubs are all good ways to do this.:) You can also check your state thread (link below).

Believe me I've been trying for weeks. Facebook kills me. People contact and when I give information then they say nothing anymore. I think they are looking for free unwanted roosters to eat.

Do you have any extra Roos now?

I have 1 that is my prettiest supposed to be going to a guy for breeding and one more I was going to keep for breeding. He's my largest and absolutely incredible but 3 is too many and he's not getting along with 1 of the other boys well. I was considering selling him in a breeding pair with a female. My females should start laying any time now and I can hatch. So yes.. possibly.

I was just looking for a roo. It would be a long trip for me to come get him, but if you decide to sell, let me know.
Ok. So far I'm holding him. This line from the breeder is a beautiful fast growing meat line and as long as they can get along...without fights.. I want to try to get chicks from him. He's a big old boy and I intend to sell eggs and chicks so if I can spread his genetics before I'm forced to give him up I'd rather. I looked at your profile and it says TN. Now I will be honest. These big boys don't like the heat and humidity down here and probably would better up north. We are trying to return to TN in the next few years and buy land up there to raise these birds. If I was going to sell my big boy it is much preferred to see him go up north. The breeder of this line of Delawares has retired so if I can breed him a bit first and sell his eggs and chicks to spread the genetics that is my goal. I can't get this line of Delawares again. The more people that breed this line the better so it doesn't die off. They will be 20 weeks on June 1 and I know he's probably about 8lbs or more. He was already around 7.5lbs a few weeks ago and got too big for the scale so I can only imagine how big he is now. He hasn't even filled out yet. This is just the basic meat on his frame. Absolutely beautiful boy.

Let me know if you change your mind. I want to breed some from my Dellie girls that came from a hatchery, but are actually really decent shape and form, but I really need a good roo to get better stock. They are getting hard to find from breeders.

Yes I know this is the problem with good Delawares. They are really getting hard to find from breeders and not hatchery stock. I told my husband and he has been bugging to take a vacation to TN. His family lives there and we haven't been up in awhile. He said sell the rooster and let's go haha. If anyone was going to take him it seems like you might be the best place. Up north, out of Florida..away from this heat. I was just thinking this past couple weeks... What the heck am I going to do with this rooster. He's too big. Florida isn't a good place for him. I also only wanted my birds to go to serious breeders so the genetics aren't lost. The other problem I have is leaving my birds in the summer. It's dangerous heat and humidity for them right now and traveling and trying to rely on good care would be hard. I'm afraid to leave my birds in the heat.. God forbid my person I leave them in care of...if they aren't reliable my birds will dehydrate really fast. The summer is brutal and I'm terrified to leave my birds. Winter is safe. I hate this state and I can't wait to move back up north to TN..I miss it. Buddy I am seriously considering this. You are probably this roosters best hope.
