Hi everyone!
Long time visitor, first time poster.
I have a hen who appears to have been stung on the face, this happened approx. 10 days ago (we've since eradicated the hornet nest) there was a large swollen lump near the eye (as seen in photo) within a day the swelling traveled around the eye blocking a bit of vision which caused the hen to just lady around our walk with her head tilted to one side to see properly. I couldn't find a stringer but could see the possible mark where it was. Called the vet (2.5 hrs away) she was going to call back and never did. I Gave anti-inflamitory 5 days ago for 3 days (from vet for prior issue wth a hen) Swelling started to go down and she could see just fine again so i was very optimistic that it was just a reaction to the sting (even I swell for weeks), problem is now it seems to not be going down any further. Still "fluid like" under the swollen skin. I have antibiotic from a previous issue with our chickens and remaining anti - inflammatory. Should I give antibiotic and/or anti-inflammatory, or just let the sting run its course. Hen seems 100% fine, eating, sleeping, just happy, no bubbling water eye, no running nose. I just don't want this to become an infection. I've never had a hen stung.
Thank you for your time
The picture was 3 days after the possible sting... Swelling has gone down just enough for her to see properly.
