Possum inside

Dog barked and chickens went nuts at 2am. Went out and found a possum hanging inside the run! The girls were freaked. I was alone and had no clue what to do so the girls spent the night in the garage. Possum gone this am. I think he slid in thru an overlapping of hardware cloth. My coop is inside the run. Should I be locking them inside the coop every night? They usually roost on top of it.

Unless there is no opening larger than a half inch, they need to be locked in the coop at night. Opossums may be the least of your worries if there are gaps.
