I have two ducks and i have a possum that keeps getting in their pen. I think i have found where they are entering but my pekin has been attacked 3 times now. I know possums dont generally attack but i think she is trying to protect her eggs. Anyway i got a live trap to try and trap them but all im catching is raccoons. Wondering what the best bait to use for possums that is not cat food or fish because we have a ton of cats in the neighorhood. Any suggestions??

Yes..we have caught and shot three possums inside the cage already. Plus there is not an opening big enough for a raccoon to get in. I feel like a raccoon would be killing the ducks or doing alot more damage if they were to get in!!

I know marshmallows work great for raccoons because I believe they may think they are an egg inside the live trap. I think it would work for an opposum too. They are great because there is no odor to attract cats like tuna or cat food would.

Don't think a possum will not readily kill chickens & ducks to eat....they absolutely will.

I have been baiting the cage with a duck egg since that is what they are coming in for and I was also putting a piece of bread with jelly on it and I've now caught 3 coons and no possums

It's most likely that the coons are stirring earlier.....stay with it. There is no bait that a possum will eat exclusively.
