Possum!

One of our ducks disappeared without a trace this weekend. Today I saw the tail end of a possum running out of the pen after it ate the egg that was in there. We lock them up at night but I saw the possum in the late afternoon in bright daylight. Help!
I know a Opossum will eat eggs but not sure if it would go after an adult duck they will come around in the day light hrs too.

But there are other preds out during the day, hawks to name one and I have also seen Raccoons and then you have dogs, foxes and bob cats that are also our in the day light. Plus coyotes, minks, weasel.
Very sorry for your loss.

Didn't someone say they lost a duck to a possum not too long ago? I wouldn't put anything past them. :/ I'm so sorry for your loss, Blacke.

I may have missed that one, but we have had Opossums come around in the day and eat out of he feeders with my flock standing around watching, If I had chicks or ducklings or goslings I would be more concerned .
