Post-Broody Questions...

How long after going broody and hatching eggs does it generally take for a hen to begin laying again?

And how long does it take for her plucked brood-patch feathers to come in again?

Just some curious questions from a friend of mine who has her first hen coming out of brooding. Thanks!

Mine started laying again when the chicks were 4 to 5 weeks old. I don't know about the feather question.

It depends on the hen I think.

I believe my last momma kept her babies for like 6 weeks. Then it was another two weeks before she laid again.

Other broodies of mine was done and laying within like 4 weeks.

So it's all depending on how motherly the broodys are.
