Elf did seem to be at a loss in just about every way - she was, well, slow. But after they were somewhere between six months and a year old, she caught up. Now she's 100% duck! Holds her own with any of the flock. And she likes hugs. No feet off the ground, but ground-level hugs are great with her. Unless she's molting, then it's too ouchie.
