Well, hatch rate for both shipped and local eggs in the Roll-X was just over 50%. One thing I did notice in the last 2 incubations is that once the eggs were removed from the roller and placed on the wire below, the eggs that rolled to the edge of the incubator did not hatch as well as the ones in the center under the fan shroud. None of the ones in the corners hatched. I wonder if there is a temperature or humidity gradient in this large, square incubator?? As I am done this year, perhaps next year I will make a ring to keep the eggs more in the center and see if this improves hatch rate. All the unhatched eggs had fully or nearly fully formed chicks in them that just appeared to have died just prior to hatching.
