Just thought i would share this with you folks, .I ordered chicks to be delivered to our PO on the 18th,so my brother goes in the PO this morning,an hears chicks in the mail room , so he calls me and "say your chicks are at the PO'' an i said "noway they won't be here till next week" so me i leave work an go to the PO, and as i walk in, all you hear is these chicks "raising cain" in the mail room, and i ask the post master "is those chicks for Dawson" an she says" no ,there for someone else!!! an she put the box on the counter an showed me these pretty silkies, an i told her i had some coming the 18th, an gave her my # and said to call me as soon as they arrive, no matter what time it is,but the sad part is that the box of chicks have been there 1 day already, cause the person has not pick them up, and i said won"t you feed and water them, and she said we cant,it would be tampering with someones mail p. i was sad, then she said they better hurry up, cause i cant stand the noise any more!! i felt so sorry for the babies, that i could not stand in there another second,!!

On an up swing... We live and rural area and found both of these things amazing! First, the post office is located directly next to a feed mill who sells 100s on chicks every spring. ALL of those chicks showed up on the same day to the post office. It was so loud... but the post master was concerned about them so he also jacked up the heat for the little ones. Hottest and loudest trip to get the mail ever!

The second story was when our own very small shipment of ducklings arrived. I was not able to get there until about 10 minutes after the PO closed. I called and they obviously stayed for me. But when I got there the INCREDIBLY gruff post master was on the floor playing with the ducklings. I was the cutest thing I had ever seen! Especially since I stood in the doorway for a few minutes before he realized that I was there. I realize he tampered with my mail... but so glad to know that he was worried about my girls!!

Some things work out well :)

I had chicks send via courier once. I phoned the courier when I discovered the chicks would overnight at a town near us and asked what time they are expecting them to arrive at the depot. I arranged to go collect them there. When I got to the depot and asked about the chicks I was ushered into the office where I discovered the office ladies opened the box to play with the chicks. They were very concerned about the little ones and one lady told me she was going to take them to her house for the night if I didn't show up. They were very happy to see me!
