I am bad mood and very unhappy with the Post Office. And yes I been told oh well that the risk of shipping. Wonder if they saved to get a start in turkeys, spend the bucks to buy and ship them, if they have the o well mind set about it See how happy they be if out of two and half dozens eggs, you get seven. Then they say it's the way they are packed. OK then teach the newbies or new shippers how to pack. Oh and go teach the Post Office how to handle packages.
Sorry warned you I was unhappy guess I will start saving again. Wish I left the broken ones setting in the P.O. until about a week from the last April.

Sorry you got yucky eggs.

It's not their responsibility to show people how to package items to get them there safely, though. Were they actually packaged poorly?

Hope you can get another batch shipped in and/or find some locally.

yes if they were packaged poorly it's deffinatly not the post offices fault at all. I'm sorry for how they came to you, butif they weren't packaged properly then that right there could be the issue. However in many cases its just jostling in shipments that gets them all scrambled but not always.

I understand that tens of thousands of postal workers jobs are being targeted for elimination and postal workers do not have a reputation as being high in morale anyway. Makes you wonder.

bummer about the eggs. My limited experience with shipped eggs has not been good but I am hoping Steve is going to change that for me.

I love my mail lady... and they are nothing but helpful people. I think it's rediculous when people are always blaming the PO. If you dont wanna risk your eggs being scrambled, then don't get them shipped to ya and try to look local or transport them yourself. It's all you can do really. They don't get paid extra to avoid potholes and what have you.

I am not saying all PO worker are bad but when a Post Office worker that is the head of our area wouldn't even ship breakables though the PO something wrong.
No, these eggs WERE NOT packed wrong, it was plain miss treatment on the Post Offices end.
We yell when Ford Motors or Chevy are not doing something right but we to look the other way if it a government job? That just plain not right.
But I don't want people to keep fighting so I am dropping this subject and my next eggs will go Fed- Ex or The Little Brown truck. I have shipped crystal small very breakable things in my business with them OK.

I ship everything UPS because it's easier for me personally (I package em up and my mom takes them to her work to ship out easy peasey for me)

People complain about UPS too, however so far I haven't had any probs with it. I've had scrambled eggs via PO when mailed to me however I still always had atleast some hatch. My last shipment of eggs came from California, all eggs were developing i was stunned! one was a quitter but all 10 that are left are doing great and are going to hatch soon! (seramas, cochins and d'uccles)

There are only a few times when my eggs haven't made it safely to their destination. Those were all packed in cartons of some sort or another. I have gotten many eggs shipped to me in cartons, but every time I try it, they end up with some casualties.

I would think they would have had to be packaged poorly, unless you got two seperate shipments. There is NO WAY I could safely fit 2 dozen chicken eggs in one box, unless they are bantams. I don't see how you could have gotten 2 1/2 dozen turkey eggs pckaged properly. I'm so sorry that you lost most of the eggs, maybe some BYC'er will be nice enough to send you some cheap?

I might be able to help you this next week. If I don't get a payment from a person here by Tuesday I'll have a dozen that I would be wiling to ship to you. 40 dollars for a dozen Narragansett shipping included, just because of your hard ship. And no I don't have any others to ship at this time, just trying ti do a favor. Email me and I can keep you updated if I receive payment or not from other party.I'm thinking they will not because I have emailed them a few times and never heard back, sooo ???? I always feel bad when somebody has a bad experience with eggs as I have been there done that !!!

BTW, sounds like to me that they where just not packed right. I agree with another post, it would be impossible to package 2.5 dozen eggs in a PO box and for them to be safe from harms way. And maybe the eggs where no good to begin with ??? Did you break the unhatched ones open to see what they looked like ??? If packed right and the eggs are fertile then you should get a pretty good hatch if everything was done right.
