Bill the daddy's not really showing mottling and you would need a female with it as well? however you got it who knows ?

However If you want to peruse it let me know, i got a bunch of large Black cockerels growing out that are all carriers of it. they should be nice once fully grown, some with English X USA blood in them.

edited to change my thoughts

Charlie I am getting both the Silver pencil gene and the Spangle gene from BUS. You can see the first version I had from him down below. This cockerel is due to get whacked too. He looks sorta like a game bird. With the Penciling.
I do have one pullet who ONLY displays the Silver Pencil around her hackles and now one pullet who look to be litely Mottled or Spangled. So I have both coming out of one bird (BUS).
I am pretty sure their all from the same hen and BUS. Did you ever get any with the Silver Penciling? IF you did I may have accidently hatched one egg from the Speckled Sussex hen. But I doubt it. These are from that Meyer hatchery Black Auusie looking Black Jersey Giant I used to make BUS. There's alot of cr@p in these birds. I wouldn't be surprised what comes out next.

She is a Buff Cochin. This is the only pic of the first Penciled bird I hatched. I know he is not from my SS. Just weird how these traits will flip on for a few eggs that get laid and then flip off. I seen it with the first few test hatches from him. The Blacks all had Red Leakage. Then I waited for 2 months and none have Red Leakage or a lite eye. Then all of a sudden the gene gets turned back to red Leakage accompanied with lite eyes. Easy to spot those culls early. I just wait and a new look will pop out from him. I was thinking of retiring him. But sorta like what I see coming out even of the culls. I just put down some big headed Blue cockerels just for the Red leakage and lite eyes. I just have to cull heavy for a couple to keep and move on.

I love everyones birds. They are just gorgeous. I have buffs but I want all the colors now!! I have 7 pullets, 1 rooster and 49 chicks. My youngest ones are 8 weeks now. We ordered 50 straight runs from mt healthy hatchery, looks like I might have 12 hens. I love em!! Unfortunately I am addicted.

Does anybody have or know anybody that has bantam buff orpingtons? They are my grandpas favorite type of chicken and it would be awesome to get him some.
