I would say buff rock cockerel. I don't breed orps, but I believe the buffs have white legs. Does the hatchery you bought her from sell buff rocks???

I believe you're right......I didn't even pay any attention to the leg color.....was just looking at the comb and wattles.

Katy,

That's something I look at first thing on all birds......

Could be - they sent it free and wrote on the box buff orp so I just assumed it was! We are new to chickens so I really am not too sure!

Willow she he looks like my buff rock and she is so friendly, helps me do my chores every day, talks to me the whole time. Her name is yellow leggs and she was suppose to be a buff orp.

I would check the hatchery's website/catalog and see if they sell Buff Plymouth Rocks or Buff Wyandottes. Many will use a Buff Orpington or Buff Rock to "improve" fertility in Buff Wyandottes. So it could be a cross. But most likely it is a Buff Rock. Single comb, yellow shanks....meets the Standard more for a Buff Rock.

Julie (Bama) here are a few pics for you! Two little grandbabies, the smallest hatched just a few hours ago and by the size of the feet I would say roo.

Can I get some help from you Orps owners?

I am giving away 2 of these and need to pick one to keep. I can't keep roos - do you think any of these are roos? If all are pullets, which would you keep? The new owner will be here in an hour and a half.

The first is sort of skittish, the middle one may be the lower one on the pecking order (noticed when I took them out it looks like the comb got pecked, either that or caught on something)... the last one is the largest and calmest.
