I am very much looking forward to the Crossroads Show here in Indy. I have been fortunate to get 6 of Doug Akers Buff Orp chicks. I had to go to his farm back in late April to pick them up. And he showed off his best of the best Buffs. I already seen and lost to several. But all I can say is wait till Crossroads. That show is here in Indianapolis Oct 29th & 30th. Anyone who likes huge Orps will get to see Doug's and Tony's & everyone else who brings Orps and competes. We ALL then will know what a HUGE Orp looks like.
Here is a couple of update pics of the males of the 6 Buffs I picked up. To say I will be using them in my breeding program goes without saying. now with what I learned with my BUSTOFF breeding I can safely say one or two of these Buff boys will be breeding more then just Buff.

I finally stole my partners camera while she was at work so I could get some decent pictures

Group huddle, the pullet standing in back has some grand features. All blue feet and beak. Others have flaws...black is BBS Plymouth Rock.

This girl has nice dark lacing but thinking wont breed her as she was runty and has other faults.

Interestingly Serpico is number 5 in my Black Orp cock/cockerel depth chart and not so big, and the Mottled hen is not so big, so let's see how MERV grows out.

A local fan favorite. Frank proves that two scrawny narrow butt birds can produce a decent type Orp. Frank's mom is one of those 2 Speckled Sussex/Buff Orp mixes. The hen's was breed to one of the narrower boys who was sold to a young boy to show in the county fair under the "MEAT" bird category. Neither parent's shown the size that Frank displays at this age. He is destined to pick up the torch and be used in my BBR project plus who knows where else I may use Frank
