Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

yellow tagged

This is interesting to me. I said nothing about their personalities, just posted the photos, but the yellow tagged rooster has the sweetest personality, a trait that I consider essential to an Orpington. Do you think he is good enough to keep around as a breeder? I am not looking for a show champion, just for personal enjoyment, but I don't want to breed problems into my flock.

I don't see anything that would indicate he'd introduce any problems into your flock. He is simply truer to "type" than the other. Looks stockier, even the color is better though that really isn't the issue. You want a full chest and a stocky look. The first doesn't look very Orpy.

Here is the one of the BUSTOFF decendants that shows some good and bad of what the BUS threw.
GOOD size, decent width, potentially can throw a biggger heads. Too low a tail angle, (could be he is still not wanting to instigate a fight with his older cockerels who are in with him).
Too lite an eye. Lite eyes are a biggie with me. I really hate to use anything with a lite eye. Not as lite as some BUS threw.
But he is only 6 months old. ZERO UK blood. 100% APA American. Will use him with a stiffer feathered tailed hen. And hatch out a few dozen and grow out and see.
Always need a name to match the bird
Here is "BRUTE LARSON"

Shown today at the Gateway Poultry Show here in Bloomington IN. Open Show LF judge was Robert Powell. And The other judge was Rev Roland Romig. Both did a great job. Talked to Rev Romig about a few things. He is a very nice guy. Being from PA I asked about some of the better East Coast breeders. And Romig when he heads back out here in the future will be seeing about bringing me a trio of Buffs from one of the better known breeders out east. A good friend of mine who also has about the best Buffs out east shares and trades with this fella. I am in no hurry. Usually the patient man gets what he wants and is very happy.
Smaller show 759 entries. Except for 2 breeders I owned the reast of the English Class.
My Champ English Buff hen

Reserve English Hen was a Black I took. And did not take her pic. Forgot too. Too bad she looked great.
