Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

I have been wanting Buff for a long time now and had a chance to pick up these girls a couple weeks ago from a friend of mine. So now I have some pics to post....

Two of them are sill in the middle of their molt but the one in the back by herself in the 2nd pic....Wow!!! If the other two look like her when their feathers come back in I'll be one happy guy!

GREAT LOOKING BUFFS!! Now you need to get a cock to take them too and your set for showing and breeding.

I actually did get two cockerels from the same person when I picked the girls up. They are just young and not much to look at right now. If they turn out anything like the roos that I was looking at.....I'll be posting some pics of them to one day!
But thanks for the nice comments!

We have seen these in chicks. I would not worry about it until they are at least 5 or 6 months old. If the discoloration is still there, then make dumplins. I am sure it will disappear as they get older. yes, some breeders have used Rocks and Wyandottes in outcrosses, but am certain this will disappear with age.
Quote: Well, it says in the SOP under DISQUALIFICATIONS:
Yellow beak, shanks, feet or skin.

Yellow beak, shanks, feet or skin in an adult bird being shown. If the bird is 6 months old and has DQs then cull it. If its a chick and has some Yellow beak, shanks or feet, give it a few months. Remember, good breeders eat a lot of chicken soup!

Thanks guys!

I'm not sure if these were chicks that originally came from Doug Akers or chicks hatched from birds bought from Doug Akers but they are his line. All three of the hens are 13 months old right now.

When I went to pick them up, my friend had 7 hens in a pen together all the same age. He asked me what ones did I want? I had to laugh when I told him….whatever one you don’t, heck they all look great to me. His Roosters are something else as well and I can’t wait to see how my 2 cockerels turn out.

Been to Doug's farm. His birds are some of the best out there. He is a very generous man with folks like us. He gave me 9 eggs, I hatched out 4 Buffs back in mid May. 2 boys 2 girls. Still a ways to go before I know if their going to be anything near nice as yours. Looks like your friend did you right. Can't wait to see how the cockerels finish out.
GOOD LUCK!!!
