Oh Don: When I Introduce new Blood to a Solid Strain of Birds I Keep My Pure Stock at 15/16 Pure Blood. People do not understand the value of Prepotency in Good Linebred Stock Nor do they Value it as they Should. This is why I sell Limited #'s of Birds. Everybody wants 20 Years of Breeding For a Song and Dance. Then after about 2 Years they are Spouting Off about Their Strain. What a Joke

Very few people these days even know about prepotent males. In two years they probably did your strain in.....so you don't want your name attached to it anyway. lol

Don: The Birds Bill and I have Currently have a Small Dose Maybe 1/16 of Betties Buffs left in them. I bred them very tight and it took me Six years to Keep good Pigment and Get rid of Pepper in the Tail. I was ready to give up on those matings the year it finally worked..

Extreme vigor is something I'm keeping from my older girls. Their bro.Clifford, never let a hen get by him. All eggs were fertile. They are supposed to be heavy on Clevenger blood, but I think there is some hatchery blood in there, SOMEWHERE. Do I want to get rid of this? Heck, NO! The laying ability, and the fertility is something all the Orps can use. I'm certainly going to use it as long as the type holds.

Don it Occurs to me that something I said in Previous Post may be Confusing to Newer Breeders When I Said how often I Put a dose of new Blood Into Cecil's Birds. Just Because I Said I put new Blood in Four Times does not mean I don't Maintain Pure Stock for Longer Periods of Time - Years. By the way I still Consider my Birds Cecil Moore Strain Birds. Maybe in another 5 Years I will consider them My Strain. Would also like to clear Something up when I hear People Saying on Internet I do Not Share Quality Birds. We have Sold a lot of Quality Birds. Tommy Stanley was a Regular Customer. We sold Quality Buffs and Whites to his Nephew Joel Gilman. We sold Quality Buffs to Superior Farms. On more than 1 occasion I have Given a Successful Show Person a Bird when they had problems with having lost a bird and in need of a good bird. Even Sold Champion English Birds out of Show. Sold Some Very Good birds to a Couple Kids. We sold Bill Bowman a whole Flock of Light Brahmas he wanted. If my Memory Serves me Correct (Probably Not) When Betty Had her Buffs there were not a lot of Quality Buffs Around.

I know it is good to share birds from one's better line. For example a good friend and breeder of Faverolles Ron Patterson, who also sold me some White Wyandottes, got hit by a mink and wiped out all his White Favs except for one cock. IF he did not share he would not have anyone to count on for any help.
I sent Gayle Pontious some of my White's eggs, and she did the same back to me. This is part of being good to the hobby.
Folks like Clarence Cannon let his flock go to one individual, of which only a trio was traded away to my West Coast friend, and the fella who had Cannon's flock winded up getting divorced and his EX sold the whole flock of Buffs without his permission in an auction for meat birds. Very sad to hear that someone's life's passion got eaten for next to nothing, and we all loose when that happens.

Alan, you can't believe everything on this board. I came here 3 years or so to check it out. They was bad monthing Cecil Moore and was saying how he bred nothing but trash. I couldn't believe that. Cecil was a good friend and I guess this people at that time had never seen Cecil Moores white and black orps. Not only a great breeder, he would share his chicks with anyone. I have been to his house several times. He only had one breeding pen for whites and one for blacks. They came out of the pen he kept his from. I never came back to this board till about 2 or 3 weeks ago. Had a little misson.

After looking at the pictures of the birds posted on your website I feel like even getting a "bad" bird from your line would be better than some of the "best" out there. I'm amazed by those Buffs pictured.
