Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

APA is always considering new varieties and breeds, you just have to get them up to standard before you apply for them to be added to the standard, you also have to have 5 breeders that have bred them for 5 or more years.
Thats what I thought, It would be nice if they started considering new colors for the APA though, especially since lavender is becoming more popular. Either way and orpingtin is an orpington, I prefer the characteristics to the show quality. I like meat, eggs, and sweet chickens that are good mothers, and lay in the winter. Orp fit all that- I love my fluffy fethered babes.

The school has improved abit, when i went to feed them today rather the gate was left open by accident or it was left open on purpose, so the hens can find them selfs abit of food and water because they have the school garden to scrat around in which was nice to see, they looked alot happier!

Working on my APA Buffs.
Here are the two youngest generations of my Buffs. And my 4 Akers Buffs.
Being a member of the United Orpington Club has it's advantages. We are for the most part try to help each other out. Sorta IF you scratch my back I scratch yours. One of our officers who is good friends with an Ameraucana Club officer and partner with her, asked me to help her out by picking up and shipping a high quality bird from one of the very best Wyandotte breeders for a color project. OFCOURSE I said yes. And now the UOC officer has offered to me a wonderful cross of Clarence's old line of Buffs crossed onto some of Fred's "BRITT" line Buffs. I am to get 5 to 10 of these Buffs to work on and incorporate into my line. I have some nice Buff girls. And am very picky with who I use with them. So, now I can add one more line of Buffs into my options for Buff fun this coming season. By no means I will not stop keep breeding what works for me here. but to have another separate line into itself will be both fun and challenging.
Here are a few pics of my line's boys and girls. As you may already know I grow out my Whites and Buffs together. Sometime in the future I will take Buff to White to better the type on my Whites. Why don't get them use to each other now.

Some from my youngest pen. 4 month oles

Next youngest pen 5 month oles. We had 4 inches of rain this past week and it reflects on to the muddy conditions.

Just looking for one or two good boys for next season.

Doug's 4 I hatched out. Also nearing on 5 month old
