Is anyone else Orpingtons horrible? mine are!, Bellas mother cant even walk past a hen below her with out jumping on her and beating the day lights out of her!

My Orp is very sweet. Rarely bothers anyone. I only have the one Orp but she and the golden comet are my friendliest girls. In fact she is quite the moocher. Will follow me around to see if I have ant treats.

NO!!!In mixed flock, it's generally rthe Orps who get picked on. Thry are very good protective mothers though ! Bella's mother wants a proper husband !!!!

I was so scared to get these orps incase they got bullied but they turned out to be the bullies!

Johnn, I have mostly Orps, and some are horrible. I have a nice looking girl that basically marches everywhere she goes, and anyone beneath her in pecking order gets reminded of that fact vigorously. Not so much as to cause the whole flock to be in an uproar, she just likes to let a few lower hens be sure they know who is tops. I find this happens most often right after she's be reminded that SHE is not top girl. It rolls downhill. Then there's others that never bother anyone. But they all at least are nice when it comes to humans.

PS - this girls I speak of is American SOP all the way through. I think I'd have to go back more than a few generations to get to anything that might share any blood you'd have there.

Im waiting for Bellas mother to go broody again, she usually gets challenged alot when shes broody though, so she wont be happy!

My orpington also does that

3rd in the pecking order but everyone below her, she pecks them and jumps on them if they even go near her
