Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

Bill,
You may have hit on some nice lemon Cuckoos. I see some being advertised as imports but they do not resemble what I would expect to be an imported bird. I see yours have toe nails that has to be a bonus.

Harry I think the "Imported" Lemon Cuckoos that everyone has must come from hatchery lines. You may not have seen any of them in person. I did at the Connorsville show last Dec. They were gangly and very narrow. Not impressive looking birds at all. Too bad cause the look of a well made Lemon Cuckoo is a desirable look. I have little desire to add them to my list of non standard Orps breeds. Most likely I will let these go to someone who has an interest to in bettering the quality in that variety. I will grow them out and see what they look like before I let them go.
I am pretty sure these came from the son of your White cock. Just look at the White cockerel and compare him to the Cuckoo cockerel. The heads are identical. Leads me to think someone here in the states, most likely has the same line of Whites as you Harry, and they took them to a Buff like I did. EXCEPT they used a hatchery quality Buff line. Too bad for everyone out there who likes them. It will takes years (like 10 to 20 years) to clean up the existing line of Lemon Cuckoos.

Bill the Lemon Cuckoos were imported, and then crossed into hatchery buffs a couple times before they were released/ sold on ebay. After they were released, from what I understand, people have been crossing in hatchery Lemon Cuckoos more and more, and like most money making breeds they were propagated instead of being bred by people trying to make money off of them.

Sounds like the same formula that gave US similar quality in other supposed Orps varieties. I do not think I ever seen a quality Lemon Cuckoo online or in person. I am curious to see how these chicks turn out.

Bill also, those Lemon Cuckoos have to be getting their barring from their mother, since they look to be males. Are you taking any Buff sports over whites?

Better pic of the younger Buff Sport

I am getting some Lemon Cuckoos. i think they maybe from using a White cockerel from last season on some of my Buff pullets. OR it just maybe a few from the Columbian/Cuckoo cross.
Here is a pic of one

Pic of another. Plus some pics of the other varities from that cross.

In the backround is the silver. She is showing some type.

Grandson to Harry's cock.
You are like Baskin Robbins: 31 one flavors of Orps. I think I would have to sample them all if I could.

I am starting to really like the looks of the white ones but can't take any more on.
