Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

Yep..they can be meanie men...All of my orpingtons are benevolant..My australorp rooster will give me the bizzness If I make one of his girls upset..otherwise he leaves me alone..I dont mind a protective rooster..hes thinking hes doing his job..but I had a few over the top mean roosters along the way..we had a RIR rooster once that would go straight for your face and head, boy he meant it too..you had to be dressed like a gladiator to go anywhere near him and carry a garbadge can lid for a sheild..sorry to hear you dont like Bella and auntie , they are my favorite..
Its not that i dont like them i just prefer other breeds over them becase they arent the best layers and Bellas mother ripped Gingers comb open today for no reason at all, she just walked up to her and attacked her then one Ginger ran away she turned around and walked away. I will probablies keep one for a broody but not too sure yet. Also out of all my Orpingtons Bellas auntie is my favouraite, shes different to them two. Anyways change of subject, im keeping a tally chart of how many eggs each hen is laying, Bellas mother has laid the most starting from this month, so actually they arent that bad layers compared to the ones i have now!! I will probablies regret trash talking my Orpingtons when they do something to make me happy with them!

You'll do what you need and want to do with them. Over here, most are very nice and not at all disruptive. If you have some that are, then they may not deserve carrying those genes forward. It would be a real shame though, because they are beautiful. Temperament is more often genetically passed through the male than the female. I think your hens just need time to settle down. I don't think any of them are just "mean" - Bella is spoiled. Her mom is top hen. But if a male is being a rear end, well, is he that way to you or just being a male? They all have to establish their "superiority" the only way they can.

Well after youve said that im defintley not hatching my own eggs, a human agressive cockerel with chicken agressive hens, that is just asking for a killer chicken!

Bella is only laying an egg every other day, will she eventually start laying everyday or will it just stay every other day??

If you have a human aggressive cockerel I'd most definitely NOT hatch any eggs from him. I do think Bella's mother has spoiled her... I just don't think she'd otherwise be a misfit. Could be wishful thinking on my part, because she is so beautiful. But in any event, just box her up and send her over, I'll figure it out.
