Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

Its so nice of you to send her eggs so she can get back to the quality of Buff Orps that she had before the fire. Though Im confused as to why she doesn't just hatch what eggs she had saved.
ETA: Her's was a composite flock of American SOP type, and imported lines from several breeders, including some from Greenfire and others.

So, harsh question: (not to make light of the situation)

Am I the only one that has farm insurance????

She does have some insurance, but it will take months to get any $$$ out of one of those companies. Her poultry friends and fellow fanciers should help her get back a little sooner.

Here is a photo of their home. that was too close for comfort!

Everyone who has asked about my monofilament line over my Orps' orchard take note. This was this morning, 2/17/2013, with the lines covered in ice. By 3:00 PM all the lines are clear , and back up tight. Great stuff !

The bird netting over some bushes at the base of the lines held too much ice and snow, but the hydrangeas are just sticks at this time of year.I could never have netted this orchard with it as it would have sagged too badly.

Nice brite day to set up my Blue breeding pen. Patches has already made herself known to everyone.

Patch is a wide girl. Not too sure what will come out from her and this boy.

Dang Bill, you have green grass for the birds, now that's nice. When I did blue bantams, I got my best females from a blue crossed over a splash.

Very nice Bill, like the looks of that girl. The babies will have some nice coloring as well as type. I like them.

All I can say is,,, the conversation is way to hot to touch. Most insurance as such will pay for some or most lossess as such. For instance, if some of my chicken are stolen they are paid for if proper procedure/documents,identification, and photos are provided. But, if they are killed as such by dog or other wild animal then no that is considered neglect on my part. I hope this helps.

The 2014 United Orpington Club National has been placed at the APA National at Knoxville, TN in Dec. All you Southeastern folks, you got it. Should be a super show.

So happy to see its coming my way!

I may not have anything to enter but I will plan on attending. I am going to mark my calendar now.

ETA: Don does this mean you will be coming back to visit, albeit not the prettiest time of year for us.

I just talked to Eddie and they are excited, they will have the ABA National this year and the APA next year. Heck, you have alot of time to think about breeding some for next year. It will be next years babies. Having the APA National in that area will let folks attend that don't get to very often. There is getting to be several folks around Knoxville showing orpingtons. When I lived at Newport I was about the only one that showed at the Knoxville show, bantams or LF
