Lost one of my beautiful Buffs today (8 weeks old) somehow she got trapped between the wire and the gate sometime today and could not get back out. Couldn't figure how she did that, but put an extra layer of mesh across the gate to prevent any others from the same fate. Sad as they were all so beautiful and healthy and thought I was past any of the normal "baby chick" risks.

So sorry to hear about your loss.

We have two Buffs and love them so much. I know how I'd feel if I lost one of them.

I stepped on a chick this morning cleaning..ugh They are so fast and tiny.
I have the hugest splash chick. I can't believe it is so large. 10 days old and three times the size of the rest of the chicks.

Congrats on your splash chick! I love the splash and was hoping for one out of my hatches but didn't get one. I have a first time broody setting due to hatch first of next week (plus I put about 6 eggs in the incubator just in case for her). My fingers are crossed for at least one splash.

Bella's dad died today, I would have got a Buff Orpington cockerel to replace him but I think one of Bella's mothers chicks are a boy.
