I tried it, but no luck:/ but by looking at the Lavender I'm thinking I'm going to need a black and maybe a splash to get the Lavender and then maybe a black every other breeding? I could be all wrong haha. I know nothing about genetics other than I'm a blonde and my daughters dad is black haired and she is light brown.. And I think if you put a red rose and white rose, the white will dilute the red and make pink? like my blonde has diluted the black? I do know that blonde is the recessive gene and black the dominant, which also makes me wonder why her hair isn't black, there's obviously a mixture haha. I have no clue, I may just mess around with the Lavender and black and see what I get, if I don't get it, I can always try again but changing something

A splash bird is a bird with two copies of the gene that produces Blue. Lavender is a different gene. The blue is a grey feather with black lacing. Lavender is a grey feather w/out lacing. You might have to cross lavender with black but don't cross with blue or splash.

Sonja73, your birds are beautiful ! I hope mine turn out so great my little rooster is not even 8 months old I didn't know but after I got him someone told me he is an English import. I don't really know if its good or bad just that he came from there. My other little lavender and my blue I bought from someone a few counties over who breeds them, I'm hoping my new little lavender is a hen because the lady is stopping breeding them I'm looking for someone to buy a bunch from, but if I can't I may just have to go back to the one guy I got my baby boy from. I'm going to play around with them. Or I have seen some for sale that only produce all lavender. I may get some there and breed the darker ones with the darker ones.

Well, how do I start this post off! I'm not sure weather its a good or a bad thing but either way, the OLD Bella is back. She got into a fight yesterday, challenged a hen yesterday and then started walking around with her head above the top hens hoping they would be scared of her! I must admit, I have missed that Bella. Sadly I dont have any pics as I wasn't expecting it, but I'm sure she will do it more! She is still looking after her mama's rejects and loves them! Oh and yes, she still hates me for treating her with anti biotics! The swelling from her leg has gone down but the two lumps are still there but aren't causing any pain, so I'm not fussed. I'm going to get her a anti swelling cream to see if that makes a difference.







Bella's mother... WHere do I start? Well thanks to me she isnt broody anymore :/. The egg I swapped over with Daisy wasn't fertile she she left the eggs and is now going into a moult. I feel bad fr swapping the eggs over as the egg I took away and give to Daisy hatched today! But I don't feel that bad as she has already been a mother this year and Daisy hasn't been a mother at all. I'm sure she is getting scaly leg, So I picked her up and put a spot-on on her. Once I put her down, my dog started sniffing her and she got so angry, I had to take him away as she looked like she was going to attack him! She's such a crazy woman. I can't wait for her to finish her moult as she will get lovely golden feathers!









Now Daisy. I really under estimated her, she is a great broody! She wiped the floor with Bella's mother! Her eggs aren't due to hatch until tomorrow, but yesterday when she got off there was a chick peeping and pecking inside, then later on a pip and then today a chick! I think her other egg might hatch, it isn't due until tomorrow, so theres still time. I think i could hear faint pecking when I put my ear to it and I'm sure it moved! I must admit, Daisy has been a bit of a crazy broody when it comes to the other hens, she just chases them around full belt with her wings out!






This is just typical Daisy! All I had to do was give her a bowl off food and she didn't give a crap about me looking under her anymore!
