Bella's mother has grown a little tail

The chicks are hardly little things, always out in all weather

Bella's chick is doing well. Haven't got around to putting them out yet because the weather has been horrible! (the sunny pics were last week)

Daisy is on eggs now, shes kind of screwing things up this year. Not sure why, maybes Bella's thickness it contagious?

Hi everyone,
I've had Silkies for a few years now, just got my first Orpington chicks a few weeks back. The chickies are about 4 weeks old in these pictures. Is it too early to tell gender?

I'm thinking this little black one is a cockerel?

I wasn't smart enough to take a side profile of these last two chicks when I was taking pictures. lol Hopefully these two shots will do..

I have 6 chicks all together. Three of four of them have the darker combs like these two last ones I'm thinking would be a pullet. Is the color of the comb at this age a good sign of gender or is it still too early to tell?

Any advice for the newbie very much appreciated!

Bella and her baby having some time out yesterday. Couldn't leave them out all day as theres a Heron hanging about and I'm afraid incase it snatched the chick from under her. The first day out was a disaster. Bella freaked out and left the chick and then Bella's mother (the one with 2 chicks) was trying to steal Bella's chick. It was such a carry on! Anyways, heres some pics of them after they settled.
