I'm not sure where you are but I'm from MA. But yes, I think the buff orps are definitely really common,just like golden retrievers 
and hey, maybe everybody keeps the roos because they're so great LOL
they're really pretty.I guess because mine came from a hatchery the hen isn't as great as she should be (someone pointed out her legs should also be white I guess), but I love my Buff Orpington roo and hen! and I say your girl looks just fine, though I don't know anything about them lol only thing I could maybe see is that she could maybe be a little darker? But that looks to be because she's in the sun too and the roo looks great! If and when I ever get chickens, I'd love to get an Orp roo and hatch out chicks one spring but the neighbors would kill us LOL
I don't live in a town. I have neighbors, but I don't need special permissions or anything to have a rooster thankfully. I didn't intend to have one, he was suppose to be a she, but wasn't (I paid for sexed chicks). I really enjoy having him though, he's a GREAT protector of the girls, and he alerts me to problems (I'm learning his different crows).
of course!! We technically don't need permission either and we're actually supposedly a right to farm community and it says right in the by law that smell and noise and stuff is part of it but I don't want to bug them. Plus there actually really aren't that many farms cause most of the town is snobby/rich aha our part isn't and our neighbors are really nice but still. We actually have almost 3 acres so it's really private and nice but the back backs right onto the street behind us so you could literally throw a stone and hit their garage aha most are a little further back but still really close but this one is literally right there. Although our dog barks a lot (we try to stop him but even when we do, it's still another bark) and the birds are very loud so I'm sure maybe they wouldn't notice xD I'm not kidding about the birds though, we have some loud crows and hawks. They tend to fight xD Right now there's actually a hawk family. Bad for chickens but good for the noise bit But that's awesome he's so great and was very nice of you to keep him.Thanks
And oooohh, she definitely looks different in the sun! She's gorgeous and actually pretty dark
yeah, our front is mote private because the yard is huge and then we own somewhat a ways into the woods too so that's good but in the back the neighbors are there. Haha if we didn't cut through the woods, we'd have to go out our driveway, go down the street (which isn't very long at all) and turn onto theirs. So not far but not that close but yeah. But the houses are close. 
well he sounds like he was worth keeping. I probably wouldn't be able to part with any either haha
I don't put anything past a hawk, owl, or other flying predators (we also have vultures that hang in this area, but they only go after dead I think? ). Mine are probably somewhere in the 4-5lb range now, and hawks have been known to go after dogs (smaller) around here successfully, so it's just not a risk I'm willing to take. If you can't free range you can make sure your run is big enough to give them plenty of space to play in during the day. I think my setup is pretty good. I took a trampoline frame that the jumping mat was ruined on, cut it open (well, I didn't use the sawzall to do it my son's father did, I'm prone to accidents, stuck a drill bit into my pinkie down to the bone and into the meat really bad), and attached it to the coop. Then I took tent poles (from a canopy that was destroyed in a heavy storm) and attached those to it so it created a taller area. The chicken wire goes all the way to the top of the poles, attached securely, and then I ran wire across the top and tied it around those tent poles securely to create a top since I couldn't get chicken wire to work (didn't have enough support, but hey I tried). I had electric fence wire I wasn't using (sturdier) and used it to secure the top, and I used metal rods I had laying around to secure the tent poles to the trampoline.
