Our house has been nicely aged and weathered by many pets too! I just wish i had hardwood instead of carpet! Some day we will make the switch. We have cat claw marks, scratches on doors, a carpet that cant stay clean (mostly from the mud that gets tracked in tho) fur on furniture and dog food nuggets on the floor. I am sure my mom would never stand for it, but as we say it gives the house character! Is that a huge rock in the house?

I have rocks in my house too. under the pass thru window in the kitchen I have a little pond overflow/waterfall thingy I use for a water dish, and flat creek rocks on the floor along the wall under the window. oh and driftwood uhhhh everywhere. hahaha.

tile sounds awesome, maybe a bit slippery lol. real cool about the under floor heating! but can i have your wood floors!!!! I saw an episode of one of those reality shows where ppl sell their house and they show what the new folks do to it. This couple had flawless high gloss hardwood floors with antiques and very fancy treatments. The new couple saw the floors and were like yuck!!! They took cinder blocks and dragged them over the floors for hours, till there was not a shiny spot anywhere. They had rustic interior design and farmhouse type treatments, it was gorgeous. The previous couple came to see what they had done, and almost fainted. lol

Oh my goodness, Bill I thought you were a little crazy but now I know it for sure. Chickens in the house? You must have a great wife.
We don't let any animals in the house. The only exception is newly hatched chicks can stay for a week in the deep laundry room sink in a plastic tub then out to the real world.
Looks like your making a pet out that Roo. From the looks of it he really likes it there. What have you named him?

Yes Julie I am crazy, and maybe my wife is too for marrying me. We have to make sure he has an easy adjustment.
We don't have a big house, 2000 sq ft on living space, 1,000 sq ft basement, but it is a ranch style. My wife said okay to me saving our Rooster combs. Yeah I seen some people reclaim hardwoods. I am tryin to get my wife into the idea of saving these hardwoods. She thinks it is too difficult.. She may be rite. lolol These floors are original to this 1938 farm house. The tile we got a great deal on. $1.57 per sq ft for 18 inch porcelean tiles. We bought the whole lot for just under $3000 for 1,300 sq ft. And we went to this traveling trade show for some hardwood flooring for two of our bedrooms. The under the floor heating is different depending on the surface it is to heat. this is a wire mesh that you lay down before you put the flooring down. Runs on 220 volt. And we have these thermostats that hve like 12 time zones to change the heating for the time you need it. This way we do not heat rooms that we are not in. Which is half our house. Very efficient system. 20 years guarantee, the company has been in business in the Chicago area for 22 years. So, I better make sure I do it right, cause this stuff is expensive. the heating pads all in all was near $6000. ouch!!!!

He's a gorgeous boy, Bill. If any chicken deserves to be inside, he's one. And Julie, those last pics you posted are beautiful, of course. That black boy is really nice. I've got a couple of blacks who are nice-the birds I got from you last year, but what amazes me is the size of those legs. They've got huge monster legs! lol
