Most reputable Orpington breeders will tell you to look for type before color. Type is the total physical package the bird comes in. Prolly the second biggest factor in choosing the right boy is looking out for defects that are hard to remove once introduced into a breeding program. Like lite colored eyes. Improper coloring of skin, Red leakage or when Red Feathers start poppin out in a Black or Blue Orp. Those are a few to avoid. All can be seen here on BYC. And on this thread.
