Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

Julie they look wonderful!!

I have to keep REreminding myself what I want to do with my flock. The girl hiding behind this Blue is very UK type. She is not perfect, but will have ALOT to offer my UK pen's look.

Now I don't read alot. I like the books with all the pictures. So I have on my BYC PAGE this pic of Clarence's Chehalis Show winning Buff Orpington cock. I hope to make Buffs and Blacks and Blues that have this APA type. Many folks new to showing birds may not be aware the huge dominance the Buff Orps have over the Blacks in the APA Show ring. Can't beat em, make em and join em. That is how I am doing it for my Show birds.
Again here is Clarence's APA Chehalis Show winner. IF you like going to shows, a Buff that looks like this won't hurt you IF you are lucky enough to have one. Someday I hope my Buff's look like this.

For now I have to work with these up starts. These will be the best I have for now. And I have 2 more small goups of Buffs still to make their appearance

This is Thurston and the best Akers girls. This is ALL I am hatching for the rest of the summer.
These are my birds, I always take pics and bring them in to compare to Clarence's Bad A$$ show winner. From what I see, Thursty needs more tail. But, we're getting there. Thursty will be at our Indiana State Fair. Should be a great time.

Thats a huge help Bamachicken. Im seriously considering the Orpington as a dual purpose breed for my families needs as well as a competition bird. I do plan on breeding to a highest standard I can as well with the breed and fully intending to cull hard thats part of breeding and the culls obviously feed my family. Goal is to produce the best Orpingtons I can that will sustain my family as well. Thats the long term goal while keeping a breeding flock of 6-10 hens and a single Roo.

I keep coming back to those blacks, that green sheen is something else.

You think so? They are, of course very sweet. Luna came to me from urbanfarmboi who was going to breed her against my little roo. I jsut gave my roo away, but now I'm thinking that maybe it's not a roo and going to go get it back. Everyone on this post thought he was a boy but really looks VERY similar to the lav baby butterball I have, just more comb.

Do you think the butterball I have is a roo? It has no tail development (either does the one I gave away) so everyone thought roo, but her comb isn't developing...oh woe is me....

Charlie, the hen in this pic is my Nugget, who came from your flock. We love her. She's a fabulous broody. That OrpX boy in the pic with her was raised by her and at 12 weeks old, they still pal around together. She never pushed him away. In fact, yesterday, he jumped into the nest with her to keep from being picked up my me, LOL. She let him stay!
