Very nice job! I am jealous. My birds would be too IF they only knew. lolol

Thanks!! I can't take credit for the orp coop. Jim of jimsfarmstand built it for me and thats where I modified my plan for my littler coop that I built but it is a great tractor!

About the white feathers. I'm not sure how common they are. It's not a trait that you'd want in show/breeder birds but I have heard mention of some chicks that initially feather in with a few white tips on the primary wing feathers but then molt out of it but I'm no expert though.

White feathers are typical on young black birds and moult out when they get their adult plumage.

Since it's an orp, I'll also post here:
Our 6 month old black orp hen has survived a bad dog attack from 2 weeks ago tht left her tail feathers completely gone ( and some meat with it.) BluKote has been covering as she heals but now it takes a thorough spray every day to cover the new skin( good thing!).
Is there something more permanent we can use? From morning to morning, we get pink areas that invite picking.

Blue kote it typically the best option to keep picking at bay. The only other option is to separate her from other birds until she starts regrowing feathers. I hope she has a speedy recovery. Poor thing.

Jim is a great guy. I know him from a few phone conversations. And I think he has some really nice Superior Farms Buffs.
Buffs are judge critically on their coloring. IF you look on the feathers on the back, and you look down a feather to where it comes out from the skin, ALL the way up the feather is suppose to be Buff. Sounds dumb, but a great type and good size Buff will loose to one who is smaller with equal type IF that Buff has a full colored feather. I hope that makes some sense. A totally white feather can be a sign of a stressed bird too. Those white feathers will be seen more visibly when cause by stress. A Buff that is considered too lite can look Buff till you look down the feathers. IF too lite they will go from Buff on the outer tip to a lite fluffy white look. Hope yours doesn't have the lite Buff look and it is just a few feathers.

Was wondering why my ears were burning!

Thanks for the complements!

Our Buff Orps LF are growing, just not fast enough. We are planning on taking them to Shawnee, Oklahoma to teh APA Nationals in December.

How old are they Jim? I plan on taking 6 to 7 month oles. Not caring for where I place among others more interested how they do against each other.

Ours were hatched in late April, so that would make them about 5 months old. Took one to our county fair. The judge said we have a great start. Their size is par with their age. The cockerels are almost larger than our Buckeye roos. I am certain they will achieve their potential, just not much patience in waiting.

Here's two of my BO girls that like to snuggle in the evenings with me. I usually use both hands to hold them (all four usually want in my lap at the same time) but had the camera in one hand. They were trying to snuggle against my neck and were having a hard time balancing not to roll off. I'm hoping for my first egg from them in the next week or so; they'll be 20 weeks old on Oct. 10. These are the sweetest chickens I've ever had; I just love them!

Yours are about the same age as mine. Give or take a week. When was the show? Ours is on Oct 16th, the Lebanon IN Show. The same day as Connersville, which is another nice size show. Which sucks. But, I rather be closer to home. Just a 25 min drive to the Lebanon IN Show for me. I am bringing a total of 19 LF birds. One of my Buff lines just started to lay. They were Early to mid Feb hatch. Should be fun. Gary Overton and Paul Montieth are the judges. It will be nice to get a couple of APA judges thoughts.
