Sorry Joey.. I am still pretty green at this myself... but I know what I like when I see it.. lol Your black hen is very easy on the eyes.

The more I look at that black one... it looks like a roo. The comb and waddles are more pronounce but yet I don't see any pointed feather yet. Well please let me know what it turns out to be

They are quite similar, my guess would be the larger one might be mixed with something by the appearance of her comb, the smaller one has a more normal orpish comb. They are both nice looking hens none the less.

Hmm, really? I just thought he comb was a flaw due to us getting her from a feed store(She also got it torn a little when we tried to introduce my current phoenix to the hens). I did show her last year as a orpington and the judge didn't say anything about her maybe being a cross. She didn't win anything because he coloring isn't very even(her head is really dark and her underside is lighter than the rest of her body). We bought Shrimpy at a farmer's market(we got a pair actually but the other was killed by the neighbor's dog). We thought she was just small. She was also extremely skinny and her back was torn up from being in a small cage with a rooster and like 10 other hens. We eventually just guessed she was mixed with some sort of bantam breed. She also has a lot less feathers on her face(it's more red).

Brute is a lavender(self blue), Blue, Barred. His genotype is lav/lav (lavender) self blue, Bl/bl+ blue, B/b+ cuckoo/barred with only one gene for barring.

What breed of rooster is that behind Maple?

That would be my Bad boy Rooster Jerome, he is a Purbreed Light Sussex Roo, (cockerel) currently weighs 8.5lbs and is only 7.4 months old..
here is a better pic of him with the buffs in the back ground.
