Our family enjoyed a wonderful vacation in St. Louis last week. When we were headed home, we drove over to Mt. Carmel, Illinois and visited with Andy Anderson. Nicole (6) got a new pair of Buff Orpington Bantams and then Andy gave her an extra male. We also added a new pair of Buff Wyandotte Bantams. Then we headed into his incubator barn and picked up a dozen Buff Orpington Bantam eggs along with 6 dozen assorted Wyandotte Bantam eggs. a friend of our 4H club has two Sportsmans that are running and empty. So he will be hatching them for us.

If you are ever in the area of Mt. Carmel, IL/Evansville, IN call Andy and see if he has time for a visit. A wonderful person. We talked about old friends and new ones.

We walked up to Any's "sale pen" and he told Nicole to pick out a bird. She went inside and picked up the rooster she wanted. There were several in the pen, along with several hens. After she handed me the bird, Andy laughed and said, "He has never lost a show. Ever! She has a good eye for the Orps." Seems it was not a sale pen, but his breeding pen. Andy had offered Nicole his best and she found it! Here are a few photos:

There are a few breeders that still have the White Orpingtons. One of the largest flocks with quality would have to be BYC member/moderator hincjc and wild of pa, Jody and Charlie Hinkle of PA.

The White Orpington, in Large Fowl and Bantam, is probaly the most rare of the Orpingtons. We have about a dozen juveniles still with their foster mom.

I just saw some white orps on bidbird last night..you guys are the experts and can tell weather they are quality.. they looked big and fluffy, I didnt care for the blacks in same sellers group thou..you would have to pluck a lot of underdressing like they did in the old days just to show some of them they drag on the ground.
Jody has some nice whites .

A bunch of Black pullets. What I do not keep will get sold off as layers to my local folks

It was ANOTHER MID 90's day here in Indiana. This young Blue is showing the difference in what a little UK blood does to a Blue.

Just ask these 2 if it is hot.
