Cecil was a fine man that produced some of the best Orps ever.

The Internet has been the best and the worse thing for our hobby. People can say anything they want here and it is true until someone responds and SOUNDLY proves them wrong. Sometimes I can't believe the stuff people believe on here..most of the time I just spit my drink all over the monitor, but in cases like this it annoys the heck out of me. They are throwing around a reputation of a person they don't even know...it's all second, third 100th hand and as you see on these threads the understanding of posts is not really great......then it is reposted as true.

One of the main reasons I come here is to give my side when someone is bashing the APA. 99% of the people that do that know nothing about the APA and can't defend their position.cuz they read it online and they have no idea what is true and what isn't.

All so very true Walt. The internet can be a wonderful way to share information but is often full of seller's hype and the parroting of useless, misleading information. There is actually someone out there that I have dubbed Miss Information partly because many of her misleading comments seem deliberately designed to help sell her wares. Some of what we see stems from honest ignorance and enthusiasm as well. "But the internet says..." forgetting that the internet is the largest unedited body of work ever where we are all free to just toss in our trash. I have sometimes said we could all go to the internet and find nude photos of ourselves that make us look just wonderful. That doesn't make it true!

Feeling like I should read more before I reply to an interesting post. Seems we are on the same page. I value a prepotent male but really value a prepotent female. In anything. Walt, don't know how you think of your dogs but I believe in having a very strong, solid prepotent Beech line. (Have to phrase it that way, this is BYC after all and there will be some weird auto correct if I don't put my own word in there LOL Although maybe the one from BYC would be funny.)

My wife does the dogs..the only thing I have observed is that dogs are easier to improve than chickens for some reason

Alan, Can we consider it their strain after they have ruined it in only a couple of generations?

It only takes 2 years to do in a line of fine birds if you aren't paying attention and not culling hard..

He Cecil Sold them for a Fair Price at the time; and people Bought,Showed and Won with his birds and yet what is left of them? You could raise 20 Pullets and have 15 that could compete and win in a show. They (Whites) were Very Heat Tolerant but Extremely Prone to Mareks. I feel that is why they Died out to some Extent. I don't Understand how anybody would speak negatively of Him.

I can't claim to have known Mr. Cecil Moore on a personal level. I did have whites directly from him that had generously been shared by a friend who Cecil had sent them to. Those white pullets have to be one of the grandest accomplishments the poultry world will ever see. We don't have that now but at least we have some that are inspired to try again with the whites.

Walt - 2 Years after they Get a Bird From me I don't care what they call it. Some People Made a lot of Money Off My Birds, I don't Intend to Help them do that again- AMEN. If it is a another True Fancier or Breeder I don't care what they call it after 1 Year. Bill Bacon had Champion Large Fowl on 1 of My Birds, which were from his Birds we Swapped Cockerels on and off over the years. I was Glad for Him, He would have raised 1 just as Good. He would not have had to; But he Put a note in The Poultry Press Saying Thanks Al That Was Polite and I Appreciated It.

50 lb bags, They eat a bag a day. The heat did a early cull for me.

I try to buy 1000 lb of Breeder Pellet when I can and Split it with Somebody. Always get 100s. Sometimes my lower back doesn't like them.
