Sorry to hear your having so much trouble with your chicks. Are you sure it's a male, sometimes they are hard to sex this early on. Glad Ideal refunded you anyway. I've always had the best experience with them and my chicks, not one has ever died.

it still might be a pullet. i thought my lavendars were a trio but the one that was growing the slowest ended up being the girl and the other 2 were boys.

Red Crested Red Polish
Buff Laced Polish
Mille Fluer D'Uccle

Anyone have any photos of these breeds they got from ideal or any insight? I saw some pics early in the thread of red silkies that encouraged me quite a bit to have more faith in hatchery silkies. Ive only seen one pic of some yokahamas from ideal that were very impressive for hatchery birds.

anyhow... here is an update on my chicks there a month old now and these are the standouts from my to flock... (4 Weeks)

Overall Best Chicks: I have absolutly changed my mind about Leghorns, and I will now officially declare that the IDEAL 236 is my Favorite Breed, they are extreamly friendly far better pets than Silkies and Cochins, and I cant Wait for the Eggs to start coming, the pullets currently are double the size of my RIR and BR of the same age...

Polishhopefully the crest fills ups soon)

Dark Assels: (right now they are the sweetest chicks ever and extreamly tame and love to be handeled but I know they wil soon turn into a nightmares since they are both males)

Favorolle Pullet and Golden Neck D Uccle(not part of my order, but pleasant surprise)

Feeding(mostly pullets)

My Oldest Hen (Buff Japanease) : She is the Foundation of my Chicken Flock, she is the oldest hen I own and I got her from Ideal 7 years ago..
Extreamly Friendly and Doesnt make alot of Noise...I hope she lives for many years to come...
