You could put a Plecostomus in a pond. It would love the space. In Ohio it won't survive Winter. You'd have to net it out and bring it in, which would seriously suck. They are fast and would be hard to see. Plecos will reach a good foot long if they have the space and clean water, well, and food.

Koi are one of my favorite fish. Wish I had space to have a pond. I had the opportunity to be in charge of caring for a private collection of koi one summer. Absolutely wonderful experience! Each fish had a unique personality. They also have the ability to recognize individual people. There were a couple of the koi that loved having their backs rubbed on either side of their dorsal fin. That was cool. Hand feeding was great also. Unfortunately, I didn't get pics. Wish I had.

come on somebody lets see some pics..lol.

I don't have koi, but I have two Shubunkins. They live mostly outside in my small pond, but I bring them in for the winter. After a few winters outside trying to keep the snow from plugging up the fountain and just burying the pond. I decided to bring them in and put them in my 85gal aquarium. Thank god I brought them in this winter. The snow is crazy deep.

pleco are TROPICAL fish, they can "survive" most summers in the USA but wont survive any winters in an unheated pond, the few that do are alive but they dont THRIVE.
please dont do a pleco with cold water fish, its like taking a snowman and putting him in florida in mid summer...just because he doesnt turn into dust like a vampire would, doesnt mean hes going to thrive in that environment.
he needs a min of 74 degrees YEAR ROUND.

also fish of carp type (koi and goldfish) are high output incredibly messy fish, even in a huge thousands of gallon pond, pleco are much too sensitive to those amonia fluctuations to do well...

ill have to try and get some pics of ours, weve got a "mixed" pond, that currenlty has 3 koi, a couple calico shubunkins, some red and whites and some standard comets, hoping to add a trio of butterfly koi and some more spotted shubbies in the spring.
