People have started threads about pics of their flock, why not make one about hens on their eggs or better yet, with their babies. It'll be awesome to see babies with their moms.

I don't have a rooster, but my hen thinks she's broody.

My EE crossbeak, Hootie, went broody in late spring/early summer. She sat in a flowerpot and wouldn't budge. I had to pluck her out of the "nest" every night to keep her safe. At the same time, I was incubating some eggs from Speckledhen's Lexie and Hawkeye. I ended up with one little chick hatching.

I cautiously gave Hootie the chick, and she immediately transformed from a trance-like broody, to a loving and attentive Mom...a happy ending for all! BONUS: Lizzie is a GIRL!!!

Here's my Sunny with her two Lexie/Hawkeye babies she hatched on Mother's Day this year. She's the only one in my flock to ever go broody, and as Lynn says, she's found her calling. She went on to adopt 25 chicks that were three weeks old in the nursery coop next to her.
