Post pics of your chicken door

This is the door that leads to the run. Its on hinges and the wooden bar on the other side rotates down to "lock" it. Not very high tech, but it closes tight.

This is the "front door" with a removable screen on the upper half for air flow:

Thanks so much!!! I cut a chicken window into the coop I built for my brother for his chickens!

I always love looking at pics of people coops. Its like chicken HGTV!!!

Here's a few pics of my guillotine door. I used 1"x4" pieces , with pieces if 1"x2" sandwiched between them to allow for the track width needed for the plywood to slide. A piece of 1"x4" goes across the bottom as the door sill, with a 1"x1" lip, to prevent drafts. Hope this gives you a few ideas.

I used a rope and pulley method for opening the door from outside the run. The spring assures a firm closure

I framed the inside with 2"x4" as the beveled siding needed some reinforcment to screw the frame to. You may not need this depending on your hen house construction.

Thus is a picture of the rope outside the run, with a hook to run the loop thru to hold it open. You can see my 12 year old fox terrier likes the birds too!

This is both doors , the one on the right can either open just the top part or the bottom or both. They open towards each other. So when i build their run, it wont cause problems. Oh yeah and the window tilts open as well. Its from an old garage door.
