Hey! That's what I use for my ducklings (and now my Silky and BEI) - only mine is a much less tasteful orange.

it all could change. So here is what my $5 craigslist buy is. I think it will work great!

Hey Chickensioux,

I like your set-up! Is that a kiddie pool surrounded by pavers? We're new to ducks (7 weeks now) and my DH has spent so much time building them a raccoon proof pen and duckhouse, that I figure we have a ways to go before we have the time to do the inground pond with filter thing. But yours is attractive and functional. And we could put that together relatively soon. Do you have a drain in your pool?

The turtle pools work great, we've used one for years. We have patio blocks in it for steps to get out and a ramp for them to get in with. It is slippery and they have a bit of trouble with the sides.
We're using a bigger pool for the summer, just because we've had so much rain, and water is plentiful, but the turtle actually worked great for up to 3 ducks for years.
In the winter we use a rubber feed tub with a bird bath heater, it's a lot smaller, but they are inside more, so it's no big deal. This year, though, with my giant Pekin, Duckzilla, (actually Veronica), we might need something just a tad bigger. She's a monster.

It is a large kiddie pool. It does not have a drain, I bail it out every couple of days. It's not too difficult and doesn't take too long to do. The pavers were given to us by a neighbor that didn't want them. The mulch is free in our area every year. The whole thing cost us around $20. I just moved some of my plants from other areas of the yard as well. The duckies do love it. The call ducks hog it.

This is a really simple pond. I dug a hole and lined it with a cheap tarp. Put rocks around the edges to hold it in place and viola. POND! The only problem is it STINKS! I have to bail it out once a week to prevent the funk.

And the good old reliable...

My girls have 2 options... for now. Once I get their permanent pen built I'm probably going to just use the kiddie pool. It's much easier to dump that out than to bail out the pond.
