A couple of years back I hatched out a bunch of project Leghorn colors... and yep, they were all over the place. Several of the eggs were just off white, and most were a bit smaller than they should be. It is difficult to breed the perfect Leghorn.

Just posted one of our exchequers. They have been the ones we"ve had trouble with egg size but yellow legs have been their biggest issue. By far the worst for it. Out of the first chicks we got from a couple of sources probably 80% to 90% were white legs.
It is hard to breed even close to perfect in anything outside of whites and browns. Hardest breed ive worked with.
Leghorns are super well known but just not very popular so limited on gene pool for any of color.
That exchequer you posted is nice. Good yellow legs too.
My dark brown are pretty good.......except for their legs...NOT bright yellow.
