I LOVE THIS THREAD!
I am such a hookbill fiend!
I have a green cheek conure that I adore, I've had her for nearly 11 years. She makes the most delightful sounds, I think the only bird more pleasant to listen to is the Senegal parrot (BLOOOP!)

BF and I live in basically a one-room cabin, so no parrots yet, but later...there will be!
I'm partial to Greys, but I really like Amazons and their talking. Who am I kidding, I love em all

Oh, beautiful parrots.

Here's our rescue...I think he's about nine. We've had him for a few years.

The pics are somewhat bad because I have around .5% skill level when it comes to camera handling. Annnnnd...darn, these are the only two on the comp. He really dislikes being pointed at with the scary metal box though.

If I had the time, I would adopt another GCC. They are my favourite, yet I do admire the Amazons.

House birds *sigh* You all do know the dangers of non-stick pots and pans right? I lost my 20 year old Senegal, 5 YO cockatiel, my canary, my lesser sulfur crested cockatoo and a parakeet due to my 14 year old daughter boiling a pot dry! It was a very sad day! My brand new pans went out the door immediately and I now use only stainless steel. I just wanted to spread the word...also if anyone nows where I can get a yellow-naped Amazon I would really appreciate the information! I hae always wanted one and that is the next bird I will get. They now have a cermaic based nonstick- it contains NO TEFLON- that is 100% fume free and is safe to use around birds. Besides the stainless we were using cast iron which when seasoned properly was wonderful, but I did miss my non stick. teflon off gasses at room temperature, and if you want to talk about the canary in the coal mine... this is a wonderful example. MSNBC did a study on teflon and went into people's house and found the break down chemicals just coating the counters and cabinets with no way to remove it. Wonder what it does to our lungs.
