I treated my easter egger hen for two months for bumblefoot with soaking (betadine and alternating epsom salt), one small surgery, antibiotic powder on a pad and wrapping. I finally got her in to the vet in town (mostly because I can't stand to cut them and my husband is reluctant to help (besides it would get better for a while and then swollen and worse on and off again). She deadened her foot with lidocaine and ended up cutting the swollen pad which had a huge scar and core in. She gave the foot four stitches (which will be removed on the 22nd) and a shot ot some sort of "cillin" which was to fight infection in a large spot like that.
I told her I would keep the padding and bandage clean, but now there seems to be a little bubble of an infection or abscess. I think maybe the bandage was irritating it, so I took the whole bandage off for today (this surgery was done last Tuesday (7/12). I would like to soak her foot tonight. Should I soak in epsom salt, betadine, hydrogen peroxide, rubbing alcohol? Something else? I feel I should wrap it again, but my husband said he would help so it should be better. Any advice would be welcome. I messaged my vet, but no response yet and I have to do something soon before nightfall (she acts fine, eats fine and gets around fine and STILL lays an egg a day. She is Mae West and 2 years old and has laid an egg every single day since she started laying!

Soak in warm epsom salt water first for about 30 minutes. Then swab with betadine and put neosporin ointment on a gauze and put it on her foot. Then wrap it up. Leave it on for 5 days and then remove it. It should be healed. Dont use alcohol nor hydrogen peroxide.

I took it off after the ten days were up and took out the stitches. It LOOKed healed, but she must have jumped down or something and it popped open and she BLED a Lot. Her brilliant reddish comb went to pink and I grabbed her and soaked her in betadine and neosporin and gauze and closed it up again. It has a good scab on it now, but she is not a big chicken and lost a lot of blood. She favors the foot now, but gets around eating and drinking. I put nutri drench in every water source so she is getting that. I feel her protein rich stuff (tuna and string cheese) along with chick crumble (she is 2 years old now). I don't how else I can help her to recover from the blood loss. Any ideas, or will time take care of it. I honestly was sure I was going to find her dead on Tuesday. It was a horrifying amount.
