If you have young egg layers or if they are coming out of a molt, they can have "egg farts" or "rubber eggs". It is just a glitch and normal laying should kick in. Just make sure that they have calcium (oyster shells) free choice and all will be ok. I just got one today too. I think that my hen was stressed yesterday and tried to lay her egg too fast. Stress can also cause this to happen. HAPPY GATHERING!!!
Welcome to the flock.... BYC is the best source for information on anything you need to know and more!! And thanks for rescuing her. You can crush egg shells and put them in scrambled eggs or oatmeal for her.I get like 3 a month. I have no idea how old she is because she was a rescue. They cut her beak so sometimes she has a hard time with the oyster shells. Thank u for you response. I'm new to all this. Just making sure she's ok.
