I'm going to breed brother a sister together and only keep back the Roos with frizzled feathers and the hens with smooth feathers. I know it may not work like this but I'm gonna try it.
Sally has a Light Sussex for a mother, and a blackish-grey Ameraucana dad who was a barnyard mix of unknown origins. She lays beautiful green eggs and makes for a very persistent broody when nature calls. She keeps a constant look out for me and is always the first one to come up when I walk to the coop. She even jumps to the nearest surface to get closer still, if needed be. She's very smart, and while grouchy, she lets me pet her at dusk when the flock settles in for the night. Her egg color can be seen on my profile image - it's the bottom right one, below the green one and beside the blue one.
Next is the top hen of my flock, Buffy. Her parentage is a Light Sussex rooster over a Warren hen (commercial red sex-link). She lays beige eggs, and becomes a very determined broody when nature calls (brooded in March and then from June to September). She's a good mother up until her chicks become teens (at 6 weeks old). Then the territorial temper of said commercial sex-links kicks in, and she turns aggressive on them. I've learned to separate the chicks from her by then, so they can finish growing up in peace. On a brighter note, Buffy is fine with human presence and even eats in my hand so long as I don't take her in my arms. She's also the only one in my flock who isn't fazed by snow, and even walks on it while the other hens keep to the coop floor. Her egg can be seen in my profile image - it's the beige one on the left, below the brown one.
After that, I have Missy. While she looks like a barred Plymouth, I suspect she's the result of a barred Plymouth rooster over a commercial red sex-linked hen, because her body shape, rate of lay and temper all remind me of commercial hens. She's vicious towards new birds, but a total sweetheart with humans. She also seems determined to lay through this winter without molting or taking a winter break, which would be a first as everybody else has their new plumage. She is my best layer, with over 260 brown eggs laid since November 2019. Her egg color can be seen on my profile image - the very brown egg at the top of the other four is her doing.
Then, there's Missy's brother, whose ancestry I suspect went in that order (or something close to it):
barred plymouth rooster x commercial red sex-linked hen = F1 daughter
barred Plymouth rooster x F1 daughter = Missy's brother
Alas I couldn't keep him, so I had to give him away. He was a stunning boy, though.
