Not her first egg but it's her first since early November.... The one on the left...

We have really missed those chocolaty eggs from Martha, our BCM...

That looks like a very nice olive green egger....

Almost olive green. Interested to see how the color changes as she matures. Now if Chiquita would catch up and lay, though not very hopeful as she is cross-beaked and smaller. Not showing any signs of being ready to lay. Maybe I can swap my white EE roo for a blue egger for the hatchery. Hoping to make that trek to the hatchery tomorrow afternoon

Yes, the young man who helped us select our two newest additions accidentally selected the sweetest white EE roo instead of a pullet. Now that they are integrated and we are attached, we are having to return him. Thankfully Russell is a nice guy and will happily make the swap

Our first ever egg today! The girls will be 20 weeks on Thursday. I'm reasonably sure this egg came from one of our Buff Orpingtons, Tessa, who came running up to me yesterday and egg squatted so hard I thought she was going to lay it at my feet! I'm so proud!

Compared to a store-bought extra large and a quarter, for scale. Should I crack it open and see if there's a yolk?

And then we got our first Black Australorp egg today! Cracked them both open to see how they looked- BO on left, BA on right.

Just got home from a 4 day vacation and one of my girls laid her first egg! First egg for us!! Yay! It could have been my RIR or my barred rock. Can't wait to see if there are anymore tomorrow!!
