I'vegot three hens laying!!

My first Welsummer pullet egg, well actually my second...the first one I found broken, or maybe pecked, in a corner of the coop a couple of days ago. She is 27 weeks old, and I remember I had to give her special attention as a day old from MPC...I didn't think she would make it.

Finally got my pics to download!! The first two were from the first day and the last pic is from day 2. Then she skipped a day and we got another today! I haven't taken it out yet because I promised my daughter that she could collect the next one but she is at school. She can't get home soon enough!! Oh and they tasted amazing!! They are from my Deleware Mama June.

Thank you...I wonder if the speckling will still be apparent as she gets older.

Another first...I nearly missed this one because it was almost hidden under the shavings in the nest box. Haven't a clue who laid it...longer than the Welsummer egg, but smaller in diameter and much lighter...there are 13 different breeds of pullets in this run, with the Welsummer being the first to lay. The other pullets at POL, judging by their combs and wattles, are GLWyandotte, SLWyandotte, Light Sussex, Cuckoo Marans and 2 Polish.
What's your guess?

Hello Folks, I can't keep up with all the "first eggs" LOL. It makes me smile whenever I see that someone has their first egg because I recall how excited I got back in Sept with my first egg. Even now in Jan 2016 after 4.5 months laying, I still get excited when I go to the chicken house to get their gifts for me. Congrats to everybody and have fun collecting eggs (and eating them too). ... Kay in NC... 1.15.16
