Got my first white egg today.....That chicken hatched July 22nd....Now the other 4 I got with her need to start laying....She'll be my only white egg...Those bigger brown eggs are from my girls I bought back in March

My EE finally laid her first egg today, and it is a lovely robin's egg blue, which is what I wanted!

Now all four are laying....going to get a egg skelter, I really like the idea of them and they display your eggs so nicely! Never heard of one of those until yesterday on this site...this site is just sooooooooo amazing!! Thank you so much for being here so all us chicken nuts can communicate with like-minded people and not have everyone else think we are ummmmmmmmmmm....crazy.

I got my first egg today!! The hen didn't use the nest boxes but it was just sitting on the floor after work today! It was pitch black and I had quick look too see the turkeys and hens were in and there it was!!
I thought they wouldn't lay till next year especially as it's so dark and how short the days are in shetland!!

Finally, FINALLY! We hit the 6 egg mark today. We got 5 on Sunday, 4 on Mon, Tues, 1 on Wed, and 2 on Thurs. Today we got 6 because one of our youngest Buff Orps blessed us with her first egg today. So while I was tossing the scratch around I decided a talk was in order... So I yelled out, "Campfire", the flock just kinda looked at me with a face.....like the face of a duck who just pooped on the last open bench in the park, "Wasn't me!" look. So I lined up the 6 eggs that I collected so all could see.... and I ask, "Hey, what's missing from this picture?" Now they are all paying attention and all the girls are silent, except the six who laid one of the aforementioned eggs. "Answer me", I said, with a little heated tone in my voice. I thought I heard Walter, our rooster, mumble something, it sounded like he said "Bacon?" but I wasn't sure, I tell him, "Hey Dumba##, no more wise quacks from you", now he has a confused look on his beak. We have 14 laying age girls so we are a little frustrated that we have some slackers and freeloaders on the team. I ask, "Where are my minty green eggs, where are my beautiful blue eggs?" I look at the two EE's straight into their one eye! So they know that I'm talking to them. "Where is my chocolate brown eggs that we were getting everyday?" Now I looked right at Martha, our BCM, she was our first to lay and now nothing for at least 3 weeks. She looks around, and has that "Who me?" look. Now I didn't want to single them out because they say woman could get all emotional and all. I knew I had lost their attention when one of the girls, sitting smack dab in the middle of the group, lets go of a rather large, wet and noisy POOP. She turned and walked away as did the rest of the team. As I was walking out, I swear I heard Red, our RIR rooster say, "Nice timing, was thinking the same thing".
