Those really are quite beautiful!!

What beautiful eggs you all have! Who would ever think a first egg could put such a big smile on one's face?

The egg in the left was the first egg of one of my cuckoo marans couple of months ago, she stop laying a few weeks ago when i decide to remodel the chicken coop, she starts
LAying again yesterday and she comes with the egg in the right, is that normal?

Are you sure that the same chicken laid both? I have seen only a shade or 2 differences between eggs... but that is a big difference...

Firstly, "remodelation"? lol Good one Uncle Si..... lol

I have 14 hens and I'm pretty sure that 13 of them are laying.... They are a couple that I don't know who is laying them yet. But that is a drastic difference in color... maybe a fluke.

Hello Peeps,
I should be excited today as Olive has laid her first egg. When I went into the barn today to feed I found Olive in the goat pen, in the corner with her wing caught between 2 pieces of plywood. How she managed this feat is beyond me, my poor girl. I thought she was dead as she was not moving and when I grabbed ahold of her she felt stiff. She was really wedged in there and I had to use brute strength to free her. When I did I found her very first egg underneath her. What a horrible experience for her. I have her in the house inside the dog carrier as it is obvious she is exhausted other wise she just lacks a few feathers from her ordeal. She did eat a bit and walk around after the incident but I thought it best for her to come in for a bit just to make sure. She is suppose to be an Astrolorp but she has no tail feathers so I think she may be a cross.

Her egg is a bit small compared to my leghorn egg, but no complaints her, I just want her to be ok. If you have any idea what Olive may be crossed with please feel free to share. Thanks for reading, I will let you know in a few days how Olive has recovered.

My chicken named Emu was the first of our flock (we've got 5) to start laying.
Her egg was so tiny. But the following day, another chicken began to lay, and her eggs were even smaller than Emu's.
